MUMBAI MARATHON....

Mumbai marathon has been happening for the third time...guys i know i am too late to write about it...but thought let me finish the entire process that enabled me to be a part of it. Let me start from the word go...
Being a media student is fascinating in itself. The glamorous world of the broadcast media...the sardesai's..the barkha dutt's....the pranay roy's...anirudha bahl...made me introspect into my capabilitie and i asked myself whether i can be a part of it....the marathon made me realise it...As a part of my proj i wrote a story around this event...Guys anil ambani and other celebs run every year and they get what they want!!!the media coverage...grins !!!!but what about people like you and me who are also a part of it and probably working harder than them...Thus the story around ravi was here...Ravi is a Third Year Sociology student from Xavier's and he is blind...He isn't participating in the marathon to be a part of the glamour world or to be covered by the media but to prove to himself and others that even he can achieve what you and me can do...his disability did not deter him from working out for this event. Preparations begining 3 months before the event...i.e. from october... So did he run for a cause was my question? No...He tried running last year with his friend but failed...so here he was to prove himself that he can do it...the distance of half marathon,21kms....The D-day i.e.15th jan..5.30AM you see the downtown crowded with the mumbaites, ravi a part of them...when the gun fires he runs with his partner kabira who is also in his college, half way through at haji ali you see ravi struggling to go forward...he gets cramps...at the other end you see him encouraging himself to go ahead...i get calls from my friends that he is too slow and probably he might not finish it within three hours...at around 10.30 i see kabira waving hands and a bright smile on ravi's face. I think one of the few moments of my life where i felt that there is much more to our life than what we actually think...He said to us the formula of 3D has worked...dedication, devotion, determination. Now when I am on the verge of completion of the proj, i thought the project might have been completed but the process still continues. I know this guy would be an inspiration to all of you who are reading about him like he is to me.

inspiring and touching post. media does cover such stories. but the way u have written makes it less hyped yet the feat gets its due.

Even if media covers it..we can only handpick them...i didn't want to hype then whats the difference between me covering the event as compared to aaj tak or star news..
